Okay, so it might be seasonally inappropriate to start discussing goose-down jackets, but when this one passed by our desks, we began to look forward to winter. Created by Aitor Throup (whose military-inspired gear first caught our attention back in '05, the coat marks the London-based designer's first
collaboration with Italian sportswear staple Stone Island. Rather than using standard sleeves, body panels, and the like, Throup constructed the "Modular Anatomy Project" (catchy name, we know) out of swatches of fabric that were individually down-filled and then sewn together, one at a time. Sounds like a lot of work, but the payoff is in the quality, comfort, and, no doubt, the warmth. The downside, of course, is the price: The jacket will be available at the end of the month at stoneisland.com for $2,075. If you go skiing in it, you're going to want to be careful.
